The island of La palma is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of its cultural and musical roots with the fourth annual Nieves Folklore Festival. Scheduled for Saturday, May 24th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Sanctuary of Las nieves, the festival promises a rich tapestry of customary music and dance.

Cabildo’s Commitment to Cultural Preservation
Spearheaded by the Cabildo de La Palma, through the Ministry of Culture and Ancient Heritage, the festival underscores a strong commitment to preserving and promoting the island’s unique artistic expressions. Pablo Díaz cobiella, the head of the Ministry, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in nurturing cultural identity.
It is essential to encourage actions that, like this, put in the epicenter of our culture our traditions linked to dance and music.

This dedication aligns with a broader movement across Europe to safeguard intangible cultural heritage. According to UNESCO, intangible cultural heritage includes traditions or living expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants, such as oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe or the knowledge and skills to produce traditional crafts.
