Boosting Avocado Cultivation Skills on La Palma
In a move to bolster teh agricultural sector,the Cabildo de La Palma is spearheading a complete training initiative focused on avocado cultivation. This program aims to equip local farmers and interested individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for triumphant avocado farming, tailored specifically to the island’s unique habitat.

Intensive Training Curriculum
The inaugural course, scheduled from May 5th to 9th at the Hortorous Central in breña Alta, is already fully booked, demonstrating the high demand for such specialized agricultural education. The 25-hour program, running in the afternoons, will cover a wide range of essential topics, including:
- plant health and security protocols
- Effective crop implantation and management techniques
- Optimized irrigation strategies
- Soil management and fertilization best practices
- Hands-on field training
The training will be delivered by experienced technical personnel from the Breña Alta Agricultural extension Agency, ensuring that participants receive practical and relevant instruction.
Expanding Access to Avocado Expertise
Recognizing the overwhelming interest, the Cabildo is committed to expanding the training program to reach a wider audience. Additional sessions are planned for June in Barlovento, October in El Paso, and November in Puntagorda. Registration details and specific dates will be announced soon through the Cabildo’s Agrarian Canal.
