The northern Bekaa region, especially the towns of Sarein and Nabi Sheet, have been witnessing rapid security developments since midnight, amid information about an Israeli landing attempt, followed by violent clashes and intense military and helicopter overflights.

According to circulating data, Israeli helicopters attempted to carry out a landing operation in the vicinity of the area extending between Sarin and Al-Nabi Sheet, before the operation was revealed and clashes broke out in the vicinity of the town, especially near the Al Shukr cemetery.

Initial information indicates that the Israeli force came under fire after discovering its presence in the region, which prompted Israeli warplanes to carry out raids and fire belts in the vicinity of Sarein and the northern Bekaa, in conjunction with heavy helicopter flight over the region’s airspace, especially over Brital.

There was also circulating information about targeting the public road in Nabi Sheet, which led to its blocking, while other reports indicated that helicopters attempted to intervene to evacuate the force that faced the clashes.

In parallel, information is being circulated linking the operation to an Israeli attempt to reach a member of the Shukr family, as part of movements said to be linked to the file of the missing Israeli pilot Ron Arad, who went missing in Lebanon in 1986.

Unconfirmed information is also being circulated about the Israelis taking retired officer Ahmed Shukr, who had previously been kidnapped in the region, to guide them to a site believed to be linked to the Arad file.

On the other hand, media platforms are talking about the Israeli force being surrounded inside a house and deaths among its ranks, while a videotape is being circulated alleging that an Israeli helicopter was shot down in the heights of Brital, without official confirmation of this information yet.

Concurrent with these developments, heavy bursts of gunfire were heard in the southern suburb of Beirut after news spread of the failure of the landing attempt.

The Ministry of Public Health reported that “the renewed Israeli enemy raids on the town of Nabi Sheet in the Baalbek District resulted in the initial death toll of three citizens and the wounding of sixteen others.”
