The majority of drone overflights have been reported by pilots, other cases have been discovered by controllers. A large part of these disturbances – around 90% on average – took place in the vicinity of airports, the DFS in Euronews said.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt quickly wishes to improve the country’s defense against drones. The objective is to bring together the skills between the federal state and the Länder, to develop new defense capacities and to integrate police and military defense against drones.

Dobrindt told the German press that the country is also in a technological arms race between drone attacks and defense measures – both in the civil and military field.

For the authorities – from police to specialized security services – it is often difficult to distinguish a possible spy drone from a harmless leisure apparatus.

According to the Directorate of the Land de Thuringia police, it is only in the context of the survey that can be determined whether the drones were used for security -related incidents or for spying.

On Monday, Oslo and Copenhagen airports had to briefly suspend their air traffic after the intrusion of drones into their sky. The Danish Prime Minister Put Frederiksen spoke of an “attack” and did not exclude a Russian involvement.
