For a decade, sounds reminiscent of Switzerland and the Allgäu region have resonated in Mecklenburg. The Alphorn Group Meckalp is marking its 10th anniversary with concerts featuring natural sounds and musical insights.
Alphorn Concert on June 21st in Schwerin-Mueß
on Saturday, June 21, the group will perform with guests at the Schwerin-Mueß open-air museum from 2 to 5 p.m. Performers include the “alphorn players between the seas” from Schleswig-Holstein and “Alphorn Bavaria Berlin”. Regular museum entry fees apply. The program includes both traditional melodies and modern compositions.

A second concert will take place on Sunday, June 22, at 5 p.m. in the church of Diedrichshagen at Rüting. Admission is free, and the church’s acoustics promise a unique atmosphere.
They are natural tones that arise from lip vibration and air flow – without valves, without technology.
During the concerts, Meckalp will explain the workings of alphorns. These instruments produce natural tones through lip vibration and airflow, lacking valves or complex technology. This results in a sound with a distinctive warmth.
Attendees can try blowing into the alphorn and converse with the musicians to learn about their unique hobby.
