India vs Afghanistan Series Itinerary
The visiting Afghanistan team will compete in a mixed series consisting of one Test match and a three-match One Day International (ODI) series. According to Samayam Tamil, the Test match is scheduled for June 6 through June 10 in New Chandigarh, with a start time of 9:30 AM IST.
The ODI series follows the Test match, beginning on June 13. The subsequent matches are scheduled for June 17 and June 20. These three fixtures will take place across Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai, with all matches starting at 1:30 PM IST.

While Hardik Pandya has already arrived at the NCA, Rohit Sharma has not.
This absence is reportedly linked to severe dissatisfaction Rohit Sharma holds toward head coach Gautam Gambhir. Rohit allegedly views the request for a fitness test as having ulterior motives, as he considers himself to be in full fitness.
Further reports from Samayam Tamil indicate a specific point of contention: Gambhir allegedly told Rohit Sharma that Yashasvi Jaiswal is ready to take his place and that Rohit would need to score 200 runs in the ODI series against Afghanistan to secure his future spot in the team. Rohit reportedly views this as an insult, particularly following his contributions to India winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
BCCI Intervention and Fan Support Concerns
The friction between the veteran opener and the head coach has prompted an institutional response. The BCCI has established a committee to investigate the matter and conduct discussions with Rohit Sharma.
The board is reportedly treating the situation with urgency to avoid a public relations crisis. Samayam Tamil notes that the BCCI is concerned that forcing Rohit Sharma out of the team under controversial circumstances would trigger a strong negative reaction from fans. The board is drawing a parallel to the IPL 2026 season, where fan support reportedly decreased by 20 percent because Mahendra Singh Dhoni did not play.
The BCCI will officially announce on June 6 whether Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya will feature in the series. If Rohit Sharma chooses to withdraw or is excluded, the board intends to add Yashasvi Jaiswal to the squad as a replacement.
