Motorcyclist Dies in Holyoke Crash; Another firefighter Killed in Berlin
Two fatal motorcycle accidents occurred over the Labor Day weekend in Massachusetts.
HOLYOKE, Mass. – A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Holyoke on Labor Day, according to the district attorney.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni announced on Tuesday that 66-year-old William Brunault of South Hadley died in Monday’s crash.
Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lyman and North Bridge streets at approximately 2:40 p.m. Monday following reports of a motorcycle collision.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man, later identified as Brunault, with “meaningful injuries,” according to Gulluni.
Brunault was transported by ambulance to Holyoke Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Gulluni stated he “offers condolences to the victim and his family.”
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, the Motor Vehicle Homicide unit assigned to Gulluni’s office, and Holyoke Police are jointly investigating the fatal crash.
Brunault’s death marks the latest motorcycle fatality during the Labor Day weekend.
On Sunday night, a separate incident in Berlin resulted in the death of a 23-year-old motorcyclist and local firefighter.
Police reported that Jack Bonazzoli of Clinton,a firefighter in Sterling,lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a home around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gulluni “offers condolences to the victim and his family.”
