President of Pastef, Ousmane Sonko called his activists to a tera meeting this Saturday, November 8, 2025. He mentioned several issues, including the hidden debt left by the old regime which is still weighing down Senegal‘s finances.

In front of thousands of people, Ousmane Sonko did not fail to highlight the impact of the hidden debt left by the Macky Sall regime which corresponds to 130% of Senegal’s GDP. According to the leader of Pastef, this problem must be resolved urgently.

“After we took power, the situation showed that the previous regime had not told the truth to the Senegalese, notably with colossal hidden debts. The previous regime is guilty of high treason, because the debt is so great that generations of Senegalese would have to pay the price,” he regrets.

Ousmane Sonko, however, assures that the government is trying as best it can to fill the gap with taxes on alcohol, tobacco and others, with a goal of mobilizing 10,000 billion over three years.
