French actress Brigitte Bardot, 91, has been hospitalized for around three weeks at the private hospital Saint-Jean de Toulon, in the south of France, after undergoing surgery related to a serious illness, according to Le Figaro.
The newspaper also adds that the former film star’s health condition is described as worrying, although Bardot is recovering well and doctors are optimistic about her recovery.
A legendary figure in French cinema from the 1950s and 1960s and a global icon of animal protection, Bardot has been retired from public life for several years on her property in Saint-Tropez.
With a career spanning 45 films and more than 70 songs in 21 years, Brigitte Bardot is considered one of the greatest symbols of French cinema.
