AI in Universities: Why More is Needed

Is artificial intelligence a threat to the integrity of a college degree? Many college and university leaders fret that it will “destroy college writing” or “kill higher education.”

This fear of AI is misplaced, even dangerous. AI isn’t going anywhere: It’s already an essential tool for the modern economy, and excommunicating it from the classroom would leave graduates unprepared for the future. Instead, universities must teach their students to “learn how to learn”—to adapt to disruptive technologies like AI.
