Businessman Ilia Zlatanov has stated that former investigator Petio Petrov is currently residing in Thessaloniki and has traveled to Bulgaria. Zlatanov, a witness in the case against Petrov, reportedly provided an address where the former magistrate lives to the Sofia City Court. He claims that Petrov drives an expensive car and has bodyguards.

According to Zlatanov, this facts is current, and he told media representatives that acquaintances have also spotted Petrov in Greece.

Zlatanov stated that he met with Petrov in 2019 through intermediaries because he was experiencing “problems.”

Zlatanov claims Petrov promised to resolve his issues in exchange for 30 percent of his property.Zlatanov quoted Petrov as saying, “Bozhkov and I were fine, are there not you?” The meetings allegedly took place in a room behind the main hall of the Eight Dwarf restaurant, where Zlatanov claims he also saw magistrates. he identified prosecutor Dimitar Frantisek, whose name was previously mentioned by businessman Veselin denkov.

Zlatanov also shared a Viber conversation with Petrov’s ex-wife, Lyubena, in which they discussed gold. According to Zlatanov, she said that “nothing left for us,” because everything went to the “fat boy” and “the boy with a cap.”

While detailing the transfer of units from his company, Zlatanov mentioned Christian Hristov, who he said was close to Petrov’s family.

The case against Petrov began on July 28, 2021.Prosecutors allege that from October 11, 2019, to March 23, 2020, Petrov used false documents to illegally obtain foreign movable property, including 147 lev, one gold coin belonging to Yavor Zlatanov, and EUR 550,000 (BGN 1,085,485.65) owned by Yulia Zlatanova, Yavor Zlatanov, and Proletina Zlatanova.
