Tesla and Apple are introducing a semiconductor glass substrate. As the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) spreads, it is intended to increase semiconductors and data center performance through glass substrates. As it is two representatives of global big tech, the impact on the industry is expected to have a large impact on the actual introduction.

We were introduced to semiconductor glass substrate technology and discussed ways to cooperate. We did not confirm specific contracts or technical cooperation. However, it was reported that they shared their interests and opinions in a large framework.

In particular, Apple was introduced to glass substrate technology by finding equipment companies with relevant process technology as well as glass substrate manufacturers.

The glass substrate is a product that is emerging as a next -generation semiconductor substrate because it has less bending (warpage) phenomenon compared to existing plastics and is easy to implement micro -circuit. It is attracting attention as a technology that will increase the data processing speed and increase the semiconductor and AI performance. This is why Intel, AMD, Samsung Electronics, Amazon (AWS), and Broadcom are promoting the introduction of glass substrates.

Tesla and Apple are also interested in glass substrates because of AI.

Tesla is pursuing autonomous driving and commercialization of humanoid robots. High -performance semiconductors are essential for cars or robots to judge and move on their own. It is interpreted that the glass substrate has been checked as an important technology for the implementation of the next -generation semiconductor. Some have the possibility of introducing a glass substrate into the Tesla autonomous driving (FSD) chip.

Apple is also estimated to have looked at the glass substrate as a technology for AI response. Apple is pointed out that the AI ​​era is insufficient, and is interpreted for the purpose of implementing AI services centered on iPhone. Apple is observing that it will use a glass substrate for the AI ​​infrastructure server and data center.

Apple is developing Broadcom and on -demand semiconductor (ASIC). Broadcom is already active in introducing a semiconductor glass substrate so that it already tests prototypes. Attention is focused on whether Apple will use a glass substrate on this ASIC.

An official in the substrate industry explained, “It is likely that the base of the glass substrate will be widened as Broadcom, which is pursuing the introduction of glass substrates, develops ASIC semiconductor chips for various big tech companies.”
