Pete Alonso & Red Sox: David Ortiz’s Influence?

by Archynetys World Desk

Los Boston Red Sox they had a season interesting last year. It all started with him drama of Rafael Devers, and once it was pierced, the equipment was able to concentrate fully on the baseball again. Yes ok Devers I didn’t want to be alone batter designated, was recording good numbers before transfer.

“It took some time for Devers to adjust to the designated hitter duties, but he’s been performing at an exceptional level lately. He’s coming off a nine-game streak with an OPS over 1.200, but now his position has been again him of conversation“, wrote Jackson Roberts of IF.

In an interview on the ITM podcast, Hall of Famer David Ortiz made it clear that he expects the Red Sox to sign Pete Alonso instead of Kyle Schwarber as the team’s next designated hitter.

“Either way, you can be satisfied,” Ortiz told Joey Copponi and Scott Neville on the “ITM” podcast on Friday. “We’re talking about two monsters. But if I had to pick one, since I have Roman Anthony as a left-handed hitter, I’d go with a right-handed hitter. There are a lot of left-handed power pitchers coming out of the bullpen.

These guys don’t really care. But you know, opponents are going to analyze the matchups. when you have two left-handedone after the other, I think we have reinforced Our left-handed pitching staff is very good. A right-handed power hitter to take advantage of the monster will be a advantage”.

Although Alonso has spent his entire career with the Mets of New York his comments throughout the season suggest that he’s not necessarily thinking about leaving.

“But hey, we’ll see what happens. I love it, it’s great, but the truth is that you can’t predict anything. And I… I’m focused on finishing this. I hadn’t thought about being a free agent until we’re talking about it now,” Alonso said. “It would be great to stay. But, as always, no matter what. I don’t have a crystal ball. I wish I did, but we’ll see.”

The incorporation of Alonso would give the Red Sox another powerful hitter and further strengthen their alignment. The first baseman is likely to get a big contract, even if only play as designated hitter.

It would be a move interesting for Boston and one that could significantly strengthen the team. The Red Sox they aspire to give the surprise in 2026, and signing Alonso would certainly help them achieve that.

As part of his fundraising campaign, Ortiz is organizing a silent auction with priceless items, which will be available until Saturday, November 15 at 9:30 pm (Eastern Time). You can also donate to the cause on the website of the Bottom for the Childhood David Ortiz .
