Nursing Home Faces Scrutiny Amidst Staff Tensions
A municipal nursing home in Lyon, the Ehpad des Balcons de l’Île Barbe, is under scrutiny following reports of a deteriorating social climate. Allegations of “favoritism” and “harassment and insults” among staff members led to strike action and prompted an official audit.
According to Alexandre Chevalier, deputy mayor in charge of the elders, the General Inspectorate of Services found that “The Ehpad des Balcons is, among our four municipal establishments, the one who has the most difficulties. (…) We still have vrey strong intercultural tensions within the EHPAD. (…) Today, it is clear that we have to act quickly to find a little calm.”
The FO Ville de Lyon & CCAS union has already filed a six-month strike notice, effective from June 13, for all CCAS agents.
