Kiril Petkov has officially resigned as a Member. He did it the day after the National Council of “Continuing the Change” voted on his resignation as a co -chairman, with which the only leader was Assen Vassilev.

However, Petkov remains a member of the party and begins tours around the country for meetings with members and activists.

Hristo Ivanov did the same when he resigned last year as the leader of Yes, Bulgaria because of the weak election results of the PP-DB coalition.

Kiril Petkov goes from parliament during his fifth term

– entered the 47th National Assembly for the first time. He brought his resignation to the records on Monday at noon, ending speculation that he would give a back. The PP leader announced it last Wednesday when the recording of the corruption scandal in Sofia came out.

I am proud that with my resignation I also put a new standard in Bulgarian politics: leaders must be responsible for the actions of their staff. It would no longer be as much as it was in GERB, to pretend that you do not know the wrong one just because you personally were not part of the scandalPetkov wrote on Facebook minutes after he brought his resignation to parliament. He urged voters to seek the political responsibility of the leaders for the actions in their party and thus make them care.

When he announced that he was leaving both the leadership post and the MP Petkov, Petkov explained that he had personally interviewed each candidate for mayor, so he considers what he had happened. On Thursday and Friday, he was not at work, but he excused his absences. His resignation must be announced at the start of the plenary meeting on Wednesday.

His place in parliament will take the next one on the list of 23rd peace – former MP Vasil Stefanov. He is also a frame of “change”, so the PP and DB retain the ratio of their power in the group.

On Sunday, the National Council of the Party Petkov declared that he did not want to be re -elected as the party leader. After the hearing, he did not stand before the media with his colleagues, but listened to their press conference from the side. The meeting lasted over 8 hours, with complete mystery. The phones were collected on entry so that there was no leakage of records again.

Only two news came out of the statement later. One is that the new leadership of the PP will be elected at a Congress on September 27-28 in Sofia. Then it will be decided whether to continue the model with two co -chairs. A change in the statute is not needed, as it is explicitly stated that the party is led by one or two chairmen.

The more curious news is that

Despite the great public throwing of resignation, only 28 people have left

As of Monday, when the scandal in Sofia broke out, 68 resignations were submitted by Sunday, but also 40 applications for membership. Assen Vasilev even revealed how many party members are over 6000.
