Iran Conflict: Trump Issues Stark Warning

Iran has shown itself to be more resilient in the war against the United States and Israel than Washington expected. US President Donald Trump also toughened his rhetoric.

“We will completely destroy Iran’s terrorist regime, militarily, economically and by any other means,” wrote US President Donald Trump on his online platform, Truth Social.

According to him, Iran’s navy has disappeared, its air force will no longer exist, while missiles, drones and all other weapons will be destroyed. He also stated Iran’s leaders had been “wiped from the face of the Earth”.

Trump asserted that the United States has “unmatched firepower, unlimited ammunition and plenty of time.”

The US president also called members of Iran’s leadership “mentally disturbed bastards”, and said it would be a “great honor” for him to kill them.

Trump has previously stated several times that the war with Iran could end soon. However, attacks by Iran and its allied militias against Israel and other countries in the Middle East region are still ongoing.

In a missile attack early Friday morning, dozens of people were injured in Sarsir, in northern Israel, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service. A number of houses in the town, which is located near Nazareth, were damaged.

Gulf countries have also become targets of attacks again. Saudi Arabia claims to have successfully intercepted many drones. In Oman, two people were reported killed by a crashed drone. Meanwhile in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, debris from a shot down projectile hit a building near the financial center.

In an attack in the Kurdish region of Erbil in northern Iraq, a member of the French army was killed. French President Emmanuel Macron said the attack was “unacceptable.” He added, “The war in Iran cannot justify attacks like this.”

The US military also lost a tanker aircraft in Iraq. However, the US military command emphasized that the incident was not the result of enemy fire or fire from allies. Four crew members died. Instead, an Iran-backed militia claimed they were the ones who shot down the plane.

Israel targets infrastructure

Meanwhile, the Israeli military launched a new wave of attacks on the Iranian capital, Tehran. According to the Israeli military, the attacks targeted infrastructure belonging to a “terrorist regime.”

Israel also attacked targets in Lebanon again to weaken the Hezbollah militia. The Srarieh Bridge over the Litani River was also bombarded.

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said all American military resources were currently directed at destroying Iran’s offensive capabilities, including its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He admitted that currently the US is not yet able to escort tankers through the strait, but it is estimated that the US Navy will soon be able to do so.

US eases sanctions on Russian oil

With oil prices around $100 a barrel, the Trump administration granted temporary permission for Russian oil purchases. This temporary exemption from US sanctions is valid until April 11.

This allows Russia, which has been waging war against Ukraine for more than four years, to at least temporarily increase revenues from its crude oil sales.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized Washington’s decision. “Loosening sanctions now, whatever the reason, in our opinion is the wrong step,” Merz said during a visit to Norway.

Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev wrote on Telegram that the move showed an acknowledgment of reality: “The US is essentially admitting the obvious—without Russian oil, global energy markets cannot remain stable.”
