There has been a possibility that a dual camera system will be applied to Apple’s second-generation iPhone Air model, which will be released next fall.

On the 6th (local time), IT media 9 to 5 Mac, citing IT tipster Digital Chat Station, reported that Apple is considering adding an ultra-wide-angle lens in addition to the basic camera to the next-generation iPhone Air.

Digital Chat Station explained, “The next iPhone Air will maintain the 6.5-inch high refresh rate screen and 3D face recognition function while continuing the horizontally arrayed camera design and ultra-light design,” adding, “The combination of the 48-megapixel main camera and ultra-wide-angle lens is likely.”

It is also known that a method of implementing the 2x telephoto function through digital cropping of the main camera is being considered.

The iPhone Air’s light weight and wireless charging support are considered strengths, but it has been evaluated as lacking in functionality compared to the Pro series due to the fact that it has only one rear camera. In fact, the fact that the camera performance does not reach that of the top model, the iPhone Pro, was pointed out as a major source of consumer dissatisfaction.

Experts believe that if the iPhone Air is equipped with a dual camera, it will overcome the limitations of a single camera and be chosen by more consumers.
