On the 30th of last month, Hwaseong Special City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 1st that it would establish a strategic cooperation system with Seoul National University and begin training creative convergence talent to lead the ‘AI Future Economic City’.

On this day, Hwaseong City signed a ‘business agreement for nurturing creative convergence future talent and revitalizing gifted education’ with the Hwaseong City Talent Development Foundation, Seoul National University College of Education Educational Cooperation Center, and Seoul National University Graduate School of Science Education at Dongtan Central Joint Site.

This agreement was promoted to strengthen the educational expertise of the Hwaseong City Talent Development Foundation’s Gifted Education Center, which was approved as the nation’s first gifted education center operated by a local government-funded institution, and to establish a stable gifted education model. Hwaseong City plans to advance the gifted education system at the local level by linking the university’s education and research capabilities with local government education policies.

According to the agreement, each organization decided to cooperate with each other in the following areas: △ advice and cooperation on the operation of gifted education programs based on convergence science and R&E (Research & Education) △ dispatch of excellent instructors and support of human resources pool △ operation of special lectures for students and parents.

Hwaseong City plans to use this agreement as an opportunity to solidify the administrative and financial foundation of the gifted education center and gradually prepare a policy foundation for revitalizing gifted education led by local governments.

The Hwaseong Talent Development Foundation‘s Gifted Education Center will begin recruiting trainees starting with an admission information session for parents in March, and from May, it plans to operate a curriculum focused on science and information for 120 students from the 5th grade of elementary school to the 2nd grade of middle school.
