Gyeonggi-do is promoting the ‘2026 Gyeonggi-do Medical AI Industry Cooperation Support Project’ to support the commercialization of companies developing artificial intelligence (AI)-based medical devices and solutions in the province.

This project is a program that provides support from the initial technology development to product advancement and commercialization stages of medical AI companies in the province. The focus was on increasing the company’s commercialization potential by linking medical staff with advice from licensing and commercialization experts.

In particular, this year, support for the development of AI technology using medical data accumulated by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, a trustee, was included. The key is to increase product reliability by linking hospital infrastructure and medical data, and to support technology verification and market entry.

The program consists of three parts. These are ‘support for AI technology development using medical data’ using hospital-owned medical data, ‘customized mentoring for companies’ to help on-site medical staff and experts establish product development directions and differentiation strategies, and ‘domestic exhibitions and product briefings’ that link product introduction to hospital purchasers and promotion of domestic exhibitions.

Gyeonggi Province expects that this project will further strengthen the technology verification capabilities and market entry base of medical AI companies. The idea is to expand opportunities for demonstration in connection with medical fields and provide support that will lead to the development of practical sales channels.

Recruitment of participating companies will continue until April 10th. Those eligible for support are AI medical device companies or companies with research institutes, at least one of which has its headquarters or research institute located in Gyeonggi-do. The scale of support is approximately 3 programs and 10 companies, and applications are accepted via e-mail. For more information, please check the Gyeonggi-do website and the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital Biomedical Research Institute website.

Yoo Young-cheol, director of the Provincial Health and Health Department, said, “AI technology is being integrated into the medical industry and is being used throughout the medical field. This year, we will actively support the development of reliable AI products using high-quality medical data held by hospitals to increase the competitiveness of companies in the province and promote entry into overseas markets.”
