The police found the woman and the child on Saturday morning in an apartment building in the Oberbilk district. The public prosecutor’s office and the homicide department of the Düsseldorf criminal police took over the investigation.
There is no known information about previous domestic violence-related interventions, police said in a statement.
Further information on the progress of the investigation will be provided by the prosecutor’s office in Düsseldorf on Monday at the earliest.
