To mark the occasion, the students showed exceptional craftsmanship and presented the unique GT50 project, a modern tribute to the marque’s glorious racing history.
More news from the colorful world of cars – in the special “Car Culture” column.
The creation of young engineers is not just a mockup of a stunning design. It’s a fully functional, track-ready car with the same legendary engine.
The current Audi RS3 model became the technical basis of the project – the only Audi model with a five-cylinder engine. However, the students changed it beyond recognition.
The body has been completely stripped, and instead of the standard parts, elements reminiscent of the racing monsters of the 80s have been installed.
Visually, the GT50 concept takes inspiration from the legendary Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO car that once dominated the US circuit.
The car is decorated with a massive rear wing, wide arches and specific, closed-type rims, which immediately remind car enthusiasts of the golden era of motor sports.
In constructing this model, the students used the roof from an old Audi 80, thus further emphasizing the connection with the past. Inside, there is nothing superfluous: only safety hoops, sports seats and maximum concentration on driving.
