The animal health authorities of the Argentina detected an outbreak of bird flu in an establishment in the province of Buenos Aires and decided to temporarily suspend, from this Tuesday, 24th, the exports of the sector.
The information was provided by the National Agro-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa), after the confirmation, on Monday, 23, of a case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (IAAP) H5 in poultry farms in the town of Ranchos, 120 kilometers from the Argentine capital.
The discovery triggered a contingency plan with isolation, disinfection and sacrifice of the birds – the quantity was not informed.

The government notified the case to the World Organization for Animal Health (WHO) and suspended exports of all poultry products to countries with which it has an agreement on disease-free status.
However, production destined for the domestic market will continue normally, as avian influenza is not transmitted through the consumption of poultry meat or eggs, Senasa explained.
The last outbreak had occurred in August last year in another commercial establishment in the province of Buenos Aires, which led to the suspension of exports, which were resumed in October.
Argentina recorded an 8% year-on-year increase in chicken meat exports in the last computed period (January to August 2025), with a volume of 112 thousand tons that generated US$155 million (R$798 million), according to official data.
