José María Cermeño, the PSOE councilor in Aranjuez who threw a coffee at the Vox spokesperson, David Esteban Fernández Domínguez, will hand in his councilor’s certificate this Tuesday after recognizing “his inappropriate behavior”, as sources from the PSOE-M have transmitted to Europa Press. This resignation comes after the councilor for Technological Development and Information Technology, Transport, Mobility of the Government of Aranjuez filed a complaint with the Police against Cermeño for “throwing a container of coffee in his face” during a commission.
Specifically, the episode took place while a proposal presented by the Vox councilor was being debated in which he demanded that the Ministry of Transport carry out a complete audit of the entire C-3 infrastructure. A councilor asks him to stop being an “asshole,” to which the Vox man complains with “he just called me an asshole.” “You are,” responds the socialist Cermeño, “as well as a fascist.” The ultra spokesperson calls him “lazy” and at that moment the PSOE councilor throws his coffee at him. Those present stand up to prevent David Esteban Fernández Domínguez from approaching Cermeño and finally a recess is announced.
Beyond the fact recognized by the councilor that motivated his resignation on Tuesday, the riverside socialists stressed that during that session the Vox spokesperson even went so far as to “threaten death.” “Since he has been spokesperson for his group, he has been uttering insults, disrespect, disqualifications, threats, offenses as well as sexist attitudes to the councilors of our municipal group in each Plenary Session and in each Information Commission with the connivance of the mayor of Aranjuez, Miguel Gómez,” they denounced in a statement this afternoon.
