Apple appears set to launch the latest edition of its tent-pole device at its “Awe Dropping” event on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The iPhone 17 range is widely rumored to be the marquee item set to be unveiled during the company’s latest product event, but it could be joined by new Apple Watches and AirPods, insider publications report.
The “Awe Dropping” event will emanate from Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
Here’s what’s rumored to be unveiled at Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event.
iPhone 17 line headlined by the new Air
The star of Tuesday’s show will likely see a major change in its long-running lineup.
In July 2024, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the iPhone Plus line would be discontinued for the iPhone 17 line, making way for the new iPhone Air.
Kuo wrote that the ultra-slim model won’t be positioned as a replacement for the Plus line, but rather a sign of Apple exploring a new design trend.
The iPhone 17 Air will be about 5.5 millimeters thin, about a third thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro, Bloomberg reported.
MacWorld reported that the Pro and Air models are anticipated to have a new camera bar, where the design element holding the phone’s rear cameras stretches across the phone.
The Pro and Pro Max models will have brighter displays, redesigned thermal architecture and longer battery life, according to MacRumors.
Apple Watch Series 11, SE and Ultra 3 to get revamp
MacWorld reported that Apple will revamp its Apple Watch line, debuting the Series 11, SE and the Ultra 3 on Sept. 9.
The insider site suggests that the SE model could see case see an increase to 41 millimeters and 45 millimeters. A MacRumors report from August suggests that the Ultra 3 will see a larger display with a slimmer bezel.
The watch line will come with watchOS 26 pre-installed, according to MacRumors, meaning that the company’s AI-powered Workout Buddy program will be available on new watches. New watches could see a blood pressure monitoring feature added, according to the insider site.
AirPods Pro 3 could see redesign
AirPods Pro 3 could be introduced as early as this month, Bloomberg reported. MacRumors suggests the device could see a redesign, though it did not specify what the new upper model of the wearables would look like.
MacRumors noted that the case for the AirPods 3 Pro could see an invisible capacitive button that would mirror the case on AirPods 4.
MacRumors reported that a new chip is coming for the AirPods Pro 3 that would allow for better sound quality, noise cancellation and heartbeat monitoring.
Another new feature will give users the ability to translate conversations in real-time, Bloomberg reported.
