Summertime doesn’t officially start until Friday, June 20, but temperatures in the Wilmington area have already given off summer vibes.

Other than heading to the beach to cool off, here are some of the many summer festivals to enjoy throughout the region.

The north Carolina Blueberry Festival

The North Carolina Blueberry Festival will be hosting its 22nd annual festival on friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. The festival will kick off with a concert on June 20 at 7 p.m. featuring The Tams. The full day of festival activities will be on June 21 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The free festival,open to the public,will take place on and around Burgaw’s historic courthouse square,located at 100 S.Wright St. There will be over 175 artisan vendors, fresh local blueberries for sale, children’s activities, beer and wine, food, live music from Chairmen of the Board, and more. The public can participate in a wide range of events from the recipe contest, blueberry farm tour, 5k race, Tour De Blueberry and car and truck show. North Carolina 4th of July Festival

The North Carolina 4th of July Festival will be held June 27-July 4 in Southport and Oak Island. Some events will be the Sea Notes Choral Society, 9/11 Remembering Travel Memorial, Beach Day, Fourth of July Festival Parade, and 4th of July Fireworks. The BAD (Brooklyn Arts District) Day Music & Arts Festival will be held Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. The festival will feature world-class music, immersive art, and vibrant culture, which is suitable for all ages. The inaugural installment of the BAD Day will feature two outdoor stages featuring an eclectic mix of bluegrass, funk, reggae, house music, and more headlined by the legendary Railroad Earth, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country. There will be arts & crafts vendors, pop-ups, and galleries showcasing local and regional talent, live mural painting by celebrated and emerging artists, tributes to wilmington’s legendary film scene, celebrating the city’s cinematic roots. Dragon Boat Regatta and Festival at Carolina Beach

The Cape Fear Native Plant Festival

the Native Plant Alliance will host the 10th annual Native Plant Festival Sept. 17-20. There will be evening speakers on Sept. 17-19 at the New Hanover County Arboretum, 6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington.
