Just when many believed that WhatsApp had closed the year in terms of news, Meta surprised with a December update that goes beyond the usual “bug fixes and performance improvements.”
The new version of the messaging application incorporates functions designed to facilitate congratulations, improve family calls and enhance the artificial intelligence integrated into the platform.
Among the most notable new features are improvements in calls. Now, when a user calls and doesn’t get a response, WhatsApp offers the option to leave a voice note or a quick video, functioning as a modern, visual answering machine.
Additionally, the app introduces a “speaker spotlight” during group video calls, automatically highlighting the speaker to make it easier to follow the conversation. For audio chats, the possibility of reacting with emojis without interrupting the interlocutor is also enabled.
Meta AI elevates user creativity
Meta’s artificial intelligence, known as Meta AI, receives significant improvements. Among its new features is the integration of image generation models, which will allow the creation of more realistic and higher quality images.
In addition, any photo can be animated to turn it into a short video, an ideal tool to personalize congratulations and content for the States.
Improvements in the desktop version
For those who use WhatsApp from their computer, the update includes a new multimedia files tab. With this function, it is possible to quickly access photos, videos, documents and links from all chats, simplifying search and improving productivity.
