An Israeli army reservist rammed his vehicle into a Palestinian man while he was praying in the occupied West Bank.

“The footage received shows an armed individual hitting a Palestinian,” the Israeli military said in a statement after the incident on Thursday (25/12) local time. The Israeli military added that the individual was a reservist and his military service had been terminated.

The reservist was found to have acted “in gross violation of his authority and his weapons were confiscated”, the Israeli military said, according to the news agency ReutersSaturday (27/12/2025).

Israeli media reported that he is now under house arrest.

It was reported that the Palestinian man who was the victim of the Israeli reservists’ actions had gone to hospital for examination after the attack. He did not suffer serious injuries and is now at home.

Video shown on Palestinian TV and verified by Reuters showed a man in civilian clothes with a firearm slung over his shoulder, driving an off-road vehicle and hitting a man praying on the side of the road.

This year has been one of the most violent years on record for Israeli attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, according to United Nations (UN) data showing more than 750 people injured.
