The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) claims that Ukrainian underwater drones blew up the Russian 636.3-class Varsavianka submarine in the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.
The explosion has not yet been confirmed by an independent source. The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on the SZBU statement.
The Ukrainian secret service responsible for intelligence has uploaded a video on Telegram showing a suspected submarine explosion. According to the SZBU, the submarine suffered serious damage as a result of the explosion and became practically inoperable. According to the Ukrainians, the submarine was carrying four launchers for Kalibr cruise missiles. The Secret Service estimated the value of the submarine at $400 million. (via Meduza)
