ICT Ministry Extends Deadline for Television Regulation Comments

By Amelia Sanchez | BOGOTA – 2025/06/20 00:21:58

The ICT Ministry has granted an extension until Monday, June 30, for submitting comments on the draft resolution concerning television regulations. This decision follows requests from various interested parties.

The extension aims to encourage broader participation, allowing more time for thorough review and analysis. This ensures transparency, social control, and effective fulfillment of the television industry’s needs, leading to a more informed socialization of the regulations.

The draft resolution seeks to clarify the current regulations applicable to television services, which fall under the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications according to Law 1978 of 2019. These regulations have not been compiled in other standards.

The compilation involves analyzing the tacit repeal or decay of administrative acts to determine the current legal framework. This process systematizes current regulatory provisions, adapting them as needed without altering their core content or legal nature, thus ensuring legal certainty.

The objectives include: (i) Identifying current general regulations on television issued by the CNTV and ANTV; (ii) simplifying obsolete television rules; (iii) establishing a consolidated and simplified regulatory framework for television, facilitating consultation and updates; and (iv) compiling current television regulations under the ICT ministry’s competence.

The draft resolution and related materials are available as annexes to this publication.
