Suunto also offers various smartwatches in this country such as the Suunto Vertical (price comparison) and is currently rolling out an update to firmware version 2.50.26. This is a comprehensive update that should offer significant improvements to very different types of athletes. According to the changelog, sensors for sports modes connected to the new software can be activated and deactivated individually. There are also new, preconfigured modes for Duathlon and Swim & Run. In Swim & Run and Triathlon mode there is now a function for automatically changing the sport. Accordingly, the next discipline is switched to without user input. In our opinion, such a feature can be implemented relatively reliably – the movements recorded by a smartwatch in the transition zone differ significantly from those when swimming, cycling or running.
According to Suunto, there are also a number of improvements. Newly paired sensors are automatically activated in compatible sports modes, and the data field for displaying a map should now be clearer. New weather data can now be obtained not only via Bluetooth, but also via WiFi. With software version 2.50.26, the altimeter shows more stable values, and there is also better calculation of ascents and descents. According to Suunto, more accurate values result when swimming in a swimming pool or outdoor pool. The changelog contains a collective post. According to this, users can expect various bug fixes and performance improvements.

I have been active as a journalist for over ten years, most of them in the technology sector. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have also worked for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – compact systems with many possibilities. He also has a passion for all types of wearables and especially smartwatches. My main job is as a laboratory engineer, which is why I am not far removed from scientific connections or the interpretation of complex measurements.
