He returned the beach stones he had taken while visiting Co To Island during his holiday many years ago. The resident of Ha Long District in Quang Ninh sent the package to the island’s Department of Culture and Society along with a handwritten letter of apology.

“I am a tourist who visited this island several times between 2015 and 2018. Out of curiosity and admiration for its natural beauty, especially its rocky beaches, I secretly took some rocks to display at home,” he wrote.

VLN admitted that the news about the youth group’s enthusiasm for restoring rare coral species on the island had melted his heart.

“I realize that my actions in the past have damaged the pristine and beautiful beauty of Co To,” he continued.

“Today, I sincerely write this letter to apologize to the people of Co To and return the stones that I took. I hope that these stones can be returned to their original place and help restore the natural charm of this destination,” he said.

The tourist admitted that he was very sorry for his actions and felt very guilty. “Once again, I apologize for my actions and for the inconvenience caused to your office. Thank you for your understanding,” he said.
