The perpetrator or child in conflict with the law (ABH) in the explosion case at SMAN 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading used a number of tactics to carry out the action. The perpetrator’s family was shocked when they found out about this.
As is known, the explosion occurred on Friday (7/11) during the Friday prayer sermon. It is known that 96 people were victims of the explosion.
The police explained the explosive arrangement used by ABH during the incident at SMAN 72 Kelapa Gading. Based on the investigation of the crime scene or TKP, it is known that the main ingredient in the explosion was potassium chloride.

“Then the explosive material that you found, using the rigaku tool that we have, was detected as potassium chloride, which was used allegedly,” said Dansat Brimob Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Henik Maryanto in a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday (11/11/2025).
From the crime scene investigation, plastic fragments and nails were found. Plastic is used to wrap explosive structures and nails are used to provide explosive damage.
“There are steel nails and zinc nails, umbrellas like that, which are scattered around the mosque,” said Henik.
For explosive power, four batteries and an explosion trigger were found. However, at the mosque as the main location of the explosion, no remote was found to control the explosion.
“The power used by the suspect used four A4 batteries, then the initiator was an electric mass, then the explosive contained potassium chloride, then the switching used a receiver controlled by a remote, but we couldn’t find the remote in the mosque,” said Henik.
“Then the casing is a 1 liter plastic jerry can, and then the shrapnel is nailed,” he added.
Confesses to Buying Explosives for Extracurriculars
The police revealed the origin of the materials used by ABH to assemble bombs to detonate at SMAN 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading. The explosives were allegedly purchased online.
“Yes, it was like that (allegedly bought online). Because the parents received (the package),” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto to reporters, Friday (21/11).
Budi said that the perpetrator admitted to his family that the package contained items for extracurricular purposes at his school. Because of this, the family did not suspect anything.
“Then if the package items received were for school extracurriculars. So there was no suspicion from the family either. If he went to his parents, to his family, he said it was for extracurriculars, the food was kept with the family,” he said.
Broken Laptop Mode
To his parents, he admitted that his laptop was damaged. However, the perpetrator turned out to be surfing the dark web.
“Then including him using the web, the ABH said to his parents that his laptop was damaged,” said Commissioner Budi.
The laptop has now been confiscated by Polda Metro Jaya investigators. Next, the police will carry out digital forensics to find out the contents of the perpetrator’s laptop.
Shocked Family
The family revealed that the perpetrator’s character was quiet. They also did not think that the perpetrator was involved in the explosion incident at SMAN 72 Jakarta.
“Yes, the same, yes, his character is like that, quiet,” added Budi.
Budi said the perpetrator’s condition was now gradually recovering after being injured in the explosion incident. However, the police are still waiting for a doctor’s recommendation to examine the perpetrator
“So this ABH just had his feeding tube removed yesterday, two days ago. This means he has just adapted to the doctor’s instructions, so he is still adapting, so he still has nausea and dizziness,” he said.
“But the most important thing is that the investigator coordinated with the psychological doctor, it was appropriate that he had not yet been asked for information, but the doctor said that he had not yet. Because he was still stunned, he continued to talk for a while, sometimes it still seemed like he had not fully recovered,” he added.
