The Podium Institute for Sports Medicine and Technology at the University of Oxford is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher in Robotics.The position, situated within the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME), is funded by a £25 million, 10-year donation to the University and is initially fixed-term for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
The accomplished candidate will contribute to a unique research habitat focused on developing and validating technologies for the diagnosis,prevention,and management of sports injuries,prioritizing safety. The role involves working within an interdisciplinary team to create robotics and AI technologies that enhance the understanding of human behavior in real-time and long-term scenarios. A key aspect of the position is the testing and design of novel personal protection equipment (PPE),including developing a new robotic benchmarking testing setup,hardware and controller for a robotic mechanical impactor,and a data acquisition system with integrated sensors.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should hold or be nearing completion of a PhD/DPhil in Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong record of robotic publications/presentations in healthcare is essential, along with specialist knowledge in mechatronics design and control, and programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
