Quneitra Incursions: Israel’s Military Activity in Syria

by Archynetys World Desk

On Sunday, Israeli occupation patrols penetrated three towns in the northern and southern countryside of Quneitra, according to Syrian official media.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that an Israeli patrol, consisting of two military vehicles, penetrated from the Adnaniyah point in the northern Quneitra countryside towards the village of Umm al-Azm.

She added that the occupation patrol set up a checkpoint at the intersection of the village of “Umm Al-Azam”, which connects it to the villages of Ruwayhinah and Al-Mushairfa.

Another patrol also penetrated west of the town of Al-Rafid in the southern Quneitra countryside, and opened fire randomly in the air without information receiving any casualties, while another patrol consisting of 5 military vehicles penetrated into the village of Saida Al-Hanout in the southern Quneitra countryside.

Yesterday, Saturday, two Israeli occupation army patrols penetrated the villages of Ain Ziwan and Al-Ajarf in the Quneitra countryside, where the invading forces set up two military checkpoints to search passers-by.

42 incursions

The total number of Israeli incursions since the beginning of this December, that is, 21 days ago, has risen to 42 incursions, some of which included arrests, according to Anadolu Agency.

Israeli forces have carried out these incursions since the beginning of this December, distributed among 4 main axes. In the central Quneitra countryside axis, the number of incursions reached 18, and the villages of Bir Ajam, Buraiqa, and Kudna topped these attacks.

These villages witnessed repeated incursions by heavy military vehicles, accompanied by digging trenches, erecting huge earthen berms, and uprooting thousands of fruit and forest trees.

In the northern Quneitra countryside, the number of incursions reached 12, and they were concentrated in the towns of Jubata al-Khashab, Taranja, and Al-Amal and Al-Hamidiyeh farms. The occupation bulldozers destroyed agricultural areas and water wells, and prevented farmers from reaching their lands.

In the southern Quneitra countryside axis, the Israeli army carried out 9 incursions, targeting the villages of Al-Rafid, Al-Asha, Al-Qahtaniya, and Al-Hurriya, building a military “dirt road” and placing barbed wire.

As for the Fourth Axis area, although it is administratively affiliated with the Rif Dimashq Governorate, it is located in the northern sector completely adjacent to the Quneitra border and is part of the “Golan Front.”

Three attacks on this axis targeted the foothills of Mount Hermon and the vicinity of the town of Beit Jinn, and Israeli attempts were made to install technical observation points in high areas overlooking the Syrian interior.

Damascus and Tel Aviv are negotiating to reach a security agreement, and Syria first stipulates that the conditions on the map return to “what they were before December 8, 2024,” when the revolutionary factions overthrew the regime of ousted President Bashar al-Assad.

On December 8, 2024, Israel announced the collapse of the separation of forces agreement concluded with Syria in 1974, and occupied the Syrian buffer zone, taking advantage of the security conditions that accompanied the overthrow of Assad.

Since 1967, Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights.

The Syrians say that the continued Israeli violations limit their ability to restore stability and hamper government efforts to attract investments with the aim of improving the economic situation.
