The alleged food bid suddenly brought out a gun and shot seven to eight shots at the Ukrainian top politician.
The killer escaped on an electric bike. Ukrainian authorities have put in place “Operation Sirene” in search of the guilty one or the culprit.
Andrij Paruby (54) was deeply hated in Moscow. On Saturday he was shot and killed on an open street and in full daylight in the Ukrainian city of Lviv.
Both in Ukraine and Russia, there is tremendous attention to the attack.
Ukrainian media wonder if the Russian security service is behind it.
Russian media marks the murder as a major event and states that Paruby was “anti-Russian”.
– He had the blood of thousands of innocents on his hands, writes the major newspaper Komsomolskaja Pravda and calls him the “commander of Majdan Square».
It was at Majdan Square in Kyiv the great protests against the then regime took place in the winter of 2014.
If it is right that it is Russian agents behind the attack, it is a bad news for Kyiv. In that case, it means that they operate freely in Ukrainian-controlled areas and are very confident.
Andrij Paruby joined politics as a 17-year-old in the 1980s-for Ukraine to leave the Soviet Union.
He participated in both the orange revolution in 2004–2005 and thus in Euromaidan in 2013–2014. On the last, he led a so -called self -defense group and coordinated paramilitary groups against the security forces.
Vladimir Putin’s big horror has been «colored revolutions».
The Kremlin-controlled media has previously labeled Paruby as a Nazi and, after the attack on Saturday, has not unexpectedly thrown over Parubij’s dark past on the outermost right wing. He was instrumental in founding the right -wing party Social Nationalist Party in 1991. It was the precursor to the Svoboda party. He broke with them as early as 2004, moved over the years and ended in former President Petro Poroshenko’s party “European solidarity”.
This party states that the murder of Paruby is terror and that “Andrij was one of the founders of the modern Ukraine … Principal, decent, patriotic and intelligent”.
Paruby was secretary of the important national Security Council when the Russians started their war in Ukraine. Later he became leader of parliament.
The authorities have not officially pointed out Russia as guilty behind the attack, but it is not unnatural that there are strong suspicions of Moscow security services.
It is hardly a coincidence that the murder is happening while there are international efforts to bring about peace talks. But Russia has increased its attacks against Ukraine in recent weeks, and there is nothing to indicate that there will be any of Donald Trump’s desired meeting between presidents Putin and Zelenskyj.
In Russian media, the speculation goes that the murder may be a sign of Ukrainian divisions, because the killed politician knew everything about how to organize demonstrations similar to what happened in the Majdan Square and thus ended in the Russian-friendly president’s departure, and that he was therefore a threat to those who govern Kyiv now.
If Russian intelligence is behind the attack, there is a new chapter in the competition with Ukrainian intelligence to be behind spectacular actions. Kyiv probably leads to the remarkable drone attacks against four Russian air bases in June this year. The drones were hidden in camouflaged boxes on trucks, making it possible to hit an air base as far as 4,300 kilometers from Ukraine – in Siberia.
Now Ukraine’s President Volodyymyr Zelenskyj writes in a post of X that a “terrible murder” has taken place, and that “all necessary forces and resources are put into the investigation and the pursuit of the killer”.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to indicate that there will be peace in Ukraine.
