Catering and food trading company JSC “Lido” could think about wider expansion plans after the completion of the new production building on Kurzeme prospect, which is planned to be opened in the middle of 2027, said Rita Auziņa, chairman of the board of “Lido”.

She said that the production capacity of “Lido” is currently exhausted, so the creation of a new production plant is planned. “At the moment, an active process of designing the production plant has started. This is the main priority in order to increase the capacity of “Lido” and to be able to open new catering locations,” she mentioned.

Auziņa said that until the opening of the production facility, “Lido” will continue to work on the introduction of new technologies to improve the serving format of the existing food places, the comfort and well-being of customers.

She emphasized that “Lido” is evaluating new potential dining locations, however, due to capacity, it is impossible to open them. At the same time, she added that “Lido” new concept stores are showing good results, so the company could also work on their expansion plans.

Commenting on whether “Lido” could also expand in Estonia and Lithuania after the completion of the production building, she said that Lithuania is one of the potential markets, and Estonia also has potential, because currently “Lido” is only located in Tallinn, but it is potentially possible to develop in Tartu as well. She also added that there are places in Riga where “Lido” can develop, as well as renovation works of existing dining places and improvement of the “Lido” recreation center are planned.

On the other hand, “Lido” does not plan to develop outside of Riga until 2027. Auziņa pointed out that the “Lido” concept requires a large flow of people, therefore the most stable economy is in Riga. “Currently, a sufficiently large flow has been achieved in Pieriga, so in the future we could look at expansion, for example, in the direction of Mārupe, Sigulda and Ogre, but first we have to wait for the production plant,” she added.

At the end of November, “Lido” opened the reconstructed dining area in the shopping center “Domina Shopping“, where approximately 1.3 million euros were invested. Within two months, the dining area was rebuilt, the interior was renovated and the customer service area was modernized, introducing a self-service approach.

The manager of “Lido” indicated that self-service approach is currently available in two “Lido” catering locations in Latvia, however, self-service options are also being developed in other “Lido” locations, for example, by introducing self-service showcases and other technologies.

It has already been reported that “Lido” will invest more than 40 million euros in the creation of a new production, warehouse and office building “Lido māja” in Kurzemes prospect, Riga.

The total area of “Lido majes” will be 16,000 square meters, while providing jobs for approximately 250 people.

The company previously informed that during the project it is planned to transform a part of the building of the Riga radio engineering factory, as well as to completely restore the building’s technical condition and adapt it to the needs of “Lido” food production, storage and administrative functions.

“Lido māja” will be part of the retail park complex, the total area of which will reach 88,000 square meters. Apollo Kino, Skypark, Euronics, KFC, Sportland, Sinsay and other entertainment, restaurant and retail brands will be located in the complex. The total investment of the retail park will amount to approximately 100 million euros.

The construction works will start next spring, while the complete commissioning and opening of the complex is planned for the summer of 2027, when “Lido” will celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The company states that “Lido māja” will allow to significantly increase the capacity and volume of food production – up to 100 tons per day. After the implementation of the project, “Lido” plans to obtain food safety certification, which will provide an internationally recognized quality guarantee and provide opportunities for the company’s products to compete in European trade chains.

It has already been reported that in the last financial year, which lasted from May 1, 2024 to April 30 of this year, the “Lido” concern worked with a turnover of 79.1 million euros, which is 15% more than the previous financial year, and the company’s profit increased twice – to 7.8 million euros, the LETA agency was informed by the company.

The company “Lido” was registered in 1991, and its share capital is 1.293 million euros. The concern includes SIA “Lido nekustamie epäsumi”, as well as four Estonian companies – “Lido Eesti”, “Lido Kristiine”, “Lido Mustamae“, “Odil Eesti”.

The “Lido” group includes 13 catering establishments and five stores in Latvia, five catering establishments in Estonia, a culinary production plant, a brewery and a pastry shop in Riga.
