Where to see Avvocato Ligas, when it airs, how many episodes there are and how long they last
Six episodes, each lasting approximately one hour. The debut of Lawyer Ligasseries directed by Fabio Paladini with screenplay signed by Federico Baccomois scheduled for March 6th at 9.15pm on Sky Atlantic and Sky Cinema Storius, streaming only on NOW and always available on demand. The first episode is made up of two episodes (it ends at around 11.10pm). From the following Friday, one new chapter per week until April 3rd.
The plot of the first season of Avvocato Ligas
Lorenzo Ligas would be the best criminal lawyer of the Milan Bar. The conditional is a must, because together with the talent Ligas also cultivates a extraordinary, almost artistic, ability to sabotage oneself. His mind is a war machine: a jewel is a clue, a word a weapon, an insignificant detail an entire story. But it’s exactly thatincessant need for challenges and that escape from boredom complicates his existence. His and that of those around him.
Already separated from his wife Patrizia, he is fired immediately by the head of the prestigious firm of which he is a partner, Michele Petrello. For a “personal” matter (an elegant euphemism for saying that Ligas slept with his wife). Thus he finds himself without work, without colleagues, with the only company of a bottle of gin. And of Marta Carati, a young practitioner who chooses to follow him despite everything.
Avvocato Ligas continues: there is already talk of a second and third season
The right time to become attached to a character who, as we will see, is not easily forgotten. And according to what was declared by Nils HartmannExecutive Vice President of Sky Studios Italy, we could soon spend more time with him, given that there is already talk of the second and third season. Also produced by Sky Studios and Fabula Pictures.

Ligas customers and real inspiration
His new customers look like him: outcasts, black sheep, those who no one else would want to defend. For Ligas, however, they are all innocent until proven guilty. And they deserve the best defense possible. That is, his. It’s no coincidence that The screenplay was written by Federico Baccomo, who was indeed a business lawyerfor 7 years, before escaping from that world. “I felt like a failure because it wasn’t my path,” he said. Awareness is felt in writing, in the ability to build cases which, as he himself explains, «are morally ambiguous, often uncomfortable. And they confront the protagonist with real dilemmas.” Because “defending someone, for Ligas, does not mean justifying him: it means understanding where the truth lies.”
The cast and characters of Avvocato Ligas
Luca Argentero is at ease in the role of Lorenzo Ligas: elegant in clothes, obsessive in details, cynical, cheeky. And, as the character sheet candidly states, “sexually restless”. Fascinating and devastating in equal measure. Marina Occhionero is Marta Carati, the brilliant and determined practitioner who left her academic career for a mysterious reason. Idealist, empathetic, capable of reading people with an almost clinical acumen: in Ligas she finds a teacher who shows her the reality beyond books, and a part of herself she didn’t know she had.
Barbara Chichiarelli plays Anna Maria Pastori, the public prosecutor, Ligas’ natural antagonist in the courtroom. She is methodical and almost military, he is genius and recklessness: opposites which, as per tradition, attract each other with a certain electricity. «It’s impossible not to be fascinated by it», says Chichiarelli. «It is a relationship of strong esteem and attraction. The biggest difficulty was managing not to laugh in the first episode: there came the classic 15-minute laughter crisis.” Gaia Messerklinger vYou play the role of Patrizia Roncella, Ligas’ ex-wife and civil lawyer who became legal manager of a multinational. She paid dearly for her ex-husband’s unreliability and took on all the family burden. And now he looks ahead with the clarity of someone who has stopped expecting miracles.

Flavio Furno is Paolo Scarpelli, Ligas’s best friend ever, now torn between loyalty and career, poised between talking cricket and involuntary rival. On set, however, there were also other concerns. «Not only did I have to share the foreground with Luca», says Furno amused. «But also to show the physique in comparison. A scene that was supposed to be shot on the tables of a bar was moved to a spa. There was an assistant director who suggested to Luca the best pose to show both the right and left abdominal muscles. He told me it was fine like this…”.
There are many well-known faces in the cast, from Gianluca Gobbi a Raz Deganyes Gigio Alberti a Giulio Beranek e Valerio Aprea. And, in the first case of the season, an exceptional guest star: Cristina Marinowife of Argentero.
Luca Argentero’s new challenge
Luca Argentero doesn’t hide the pleasure – almost the relief – of finally playing a character who doesn’t worry about pleasing everyone. «After so many years spent playing the perfect and fearless figure, the positive character at all costs, it’s fun to deal with more uncomfortable things to say. With defects and not with strengths, with weaknesses instead of strengths. In short, I changed my shirt.” And he is even more direct about the relationship with his Ligas. «He’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of being and never had the courage to be. A part of me would like to have some of its characteristics, but my Turin nature, my genetic understatement, prevent me from doing so. Maybe that’s why I like him so much.”

To build the character, Argentero did not have precise references, but «if I had to say something, I would say Better Call Saulthe story of a disastrous lawyer who loses everything and has to rebuild himself piece by piece.” The text, he says, was already so precise that it did not require major interventions. Hence the short time spent between the last time on the set of Motorvalley and the arrival on this. «The thing I immediately noticed was not just the character, but the form of expression. Calling things by their name, without mincing words.” A choice that he also attributes to Sky’s editorial courage: «Here we deal with strong themes, difficult to talk about if you sweeten the language». Then there is a personal note that makes this series even more special for the actor. Cristina Marino, his wife, also appears in one of the episodes. «Cristina and I met and fell in love on a set», says Argentero referring to the 2015 comedy Caribbean holidays directed by Black Relatives. “I’m happy that she’s going back to doing the job she did when I met her.”
Marina Occhionero, Barbara Chichiarelli and Gaia Messerklinger: who are the women of Avvocato Ligas
In a series dominated by the cumbersome figure of Ligas, it is women who hold the ranks and to restore the story’s most authentic depth. Marina Occhionero describes Marta as «a character who hides cracks and conflicts», whose path is a progressive self-discovery. «His choices will reveal an inclination to risk and a desire for emancipation, and his strong sense of justice will be put into crisis». The relationship with Ligas, she explains, “is one of attraction-repulsion: there is something in his way of doing things and living that lights up a part of Marta that is hidden and unknown even to her.” On set with Argentero it was, he says, «fun: we are Piedmontese, we understand each other. We had a lot of fun playing on the great distances of vision and perception that our characters have, but who end up loving each other, in some way, very much.”

Gaia Messerklinger brings an unexpected interpretation to Patrizia, who is by no means the simple victim of her unruly ex-husband. «I liked to imagine that we are not the devil and holy water: she also had a past as a Ligas and they had fun together. Then with the little girl she understood that she had to grow up and move forward.” A woman with her own history, and a future to be built. Barbara Chichiarelli, for her part, embodies PM with surgical precision “with an almost military attitude”. The only one, perhaps, to really hold its own against Ligas. In the classroom and beyond.
The soundtrack of Avvocato Ligas: blues, tribal sounds and irony
There is an element of the series that contributes significantly to the character’s identity, and which is worth mentioning: music. Francesco Cerasi e Roberto Vallicelli they built a soundtrack that unites distant worlds (“Blues and tribal music, as well as the electronic reworking of organic sounds”). To keep together, as Cerasi explains, «the irony, the tension, the courtroom debates and Ligas’ personal events in a fluid way». The result is a score that follows Ligas in his dual nature. Distorted guitars when bravado prevails, subtle and unconventional sounds when acumen and irony emerge. A choice that, like everything in this series, refuses shortcuts.
Milan is the other protagonist of Avvocato Ligas
Lawyer Ligas it is, among other things, a portrait of Milan. Not the postcard one, but something more nuanced and alive. «It is a city that easily leaves you alone, but which fascinates and attracts. And Ligas suffers this too”, he observes Nicholas De AngelisCEO of Fabula Pictures. The lawyer’s office is in Piazza San Babila, in the heart of the fashion district, a symbol of ambition and style. THEThe Palace of Justice in Corso di Porta Vittoria is the scene of courtroom battles. But the series also crosses the Melancholic canals, Brera with its literary cafés, Isola with its young energy and creative. Up to the pop lights of Milan by night.

The review of Avvocato Ligas: razor-sharp jokes and camera movements from great HBO series
The risk of a character like this is just around the corner. Luckily, Avvocato Ligas skillfully avoids this. Thanks to truly remarkable writing (the precision of the beats is the strong point of the series) which knows how to balance drama and ironic comedy as is rarely seen on Italian TV. But also thanks to a direction that makes protagonist and environment complementary with camera movements worthy of the great HBO series. The performance of Argentero then ties everything together. You can tell he likes this Ligas: he doesn’t feel caged and it shows. Play the right amount without ever overdoing it. Also because the three women who revolve around his character – good and essential – wouldn’t let him. Lawyer Ligas is a high-quality, self-deprecating generalist TV legal drama. PFor this reason we forgive him yet another male protagonist, immature and incapable of taking his responsibilities.
