Labor Day weekend is almost here for the city of Sioux Falls. From outdoor events and family activities to local eats, drinks and shopping, there’s no shortage of ways to soak up the last long weekend of summer.
Here’s your guide to what’s happening around the Sioux Falls area.

- Jellystone Park – Labor Day Weekend
- Aug. 25-Sept. 1

- The last big weekend before summer is almost over. Activities for all ages and Elite entertainment returns for a dance on Sunday night.
- AMC Collective – Fall String Art
- Aug. 28-31. Available during regular store hours: noon-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday and 1–4 p.m. Sunday

- Choose from an acorn, leaf or pumpkin design and use yarn to create a handmade decoration perfect for the fall season.

- This week marks the last of the 50 Free Concert Series. Music starts at 7 p.m.

- Book a free fall décorsession to design your porch or patio one-on-one with the Landscape Garden Centers team, and enjoy an exclusive discount on plant material. Remember to bring a photo of the outdoor space you wish to decorate.
- Country Apple Orchard Fall Festival
- Aug. 29-31 – Fall Festival opening weekend. Hours: 4-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Fall Festival open every weekend during September and October.

- Enjoy more than 20 attractions, including the Funny Farm Petting Zoo, apple cannon range, entertainment tents, food trucks and the Candy Apple Snack Concessions. Pick a bag of apples in the orchard, find the perfect pumpkin, take family pictures and pick out your favorite sweets or a fresh-baked pie in the Country Candy Store.

- Heartland Country Corn Maze
- Aug. 29-31. Open every weekend until Oct. 26. Open noon to 5 p.m. on Labor Day.

- Explore an 11-acre corn maze with 10 checkpoints using the Maze Map and list of questions. Find the hidden bonus checkpoint and receive a free treat. Afterward, relax at the Concession Barn and Shade Tent. Hours: 5-8 p.m. Friday, noon-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
- Admission: General: $9; Child (5-10): $6; Kids 4 and under: FREE; Groups of 20+: $6 per person. Cash or check only. No credit cards. Make reservations for groups of 20 or more online.
- Great Plains Zoo – Party Like a Kid
- 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Aug. 29-Sept. 1. Last admission at 4 p.m. Final summer weekend fun.

- On Aug. 29, check out the Bubble Bash, including inflatables and a foam bubble party on the Primate Lawn, Japanese Macaque bubble bath and Brown Bear bubble bath. Button coloring while supplies last!
- Final weekend of summer zookeeper chats (11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) and giraffe feeding (11 a.m.), as well as the splash pad, carousel, farm feeding and train.
- Butterfly House & Aquarium – Party Like a Kid

- Old Courthouse Museum – Summer Concert Series

- Final show of Summer Concert Series featuring The Cartwright Brothers. Free admission. Will be moved indoors in the case of rain or construction projects. Bring your lunch and enjoy the show!

- Icon Event Hall/Dada Gastropub – Paella Party
- 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 29

- Enjoy a lively, all-ages evening featuring a giant sizzling pan of the Spanish classic, paella, rich with seafood and spice, plus plenty of flavor, fun and festivity. Tickets are $39.19 each and spots are limited. Reserve tickets online.
- Catfish Bay – Greatest Show on H20

- Last shows of the season. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate for an additional $3 per ticket. Online general admission tickets are $17 for adults, $16 for seniors ages 65 and up and $15 for kids ages 4 to 12. Kids ages 3 and under are free. Additional add-ons include front row boat Seating for $22, Section A stadium chair reserved seating for $14 and Section B cushion seating reserved seating for $9.

- Join the Hatchet Marathon at 9 a.m., followed by the Big Axe Marathon. First place receives a trophy axe and free entry to the same discipline league or marathon. Second place receives the trophy “axe.” And third place, a “crisp high five!”

- The Sioux Falls Area Running Club is hosting a family-friendly evening with live music by local band, The Clover Fold, wood-fired pizza and refreshments at The Good Earth Farm. Guests can enjoy the concert beginning at 6 p.m., cheer on runners in The Blood Run along the 1.5-mile trail, and explore the animal sanctuary farm. Tickets are $35 for non-members and $15 for kids ages 10 to 14. Discounts for club members. Purchase tickets online or at the door (cash recommended).
- Lifelight Festival
- 1-9:30 p.m. on Aug. 31

- The free LifeLight Festival unites all ages for a day of faith, music and community, featuring Christian artists, speakers, family activities, food trucks and more—all centered on sharing the hope of the Gospel.
- International Overdose Awareness Day 2025
- 8-10 p.m. on Aug. 31
- Greenway Amphitheater in downtown Sioux Falls
- Emily’s Hope, the Helpline Center and Face It TOGETHER will host a free candlelight vigil for International Overdose Awareness Day, honoring lives lost to overdose and fentanyl poisoning and raising awareness about the ongoing overdose crisis. The event will feature speakers, including community members who have lost loved ones, resources for support and the Arc of Dreams illuminated in purple as a symbol of remembrance and hope.
- Skate City – Labor Day Skate
- Noon-6 p.m. on Sept. 1

- $10 admission. Free hot dog and small drink for every paid skater.
