Overnight, Kyiv endured a significant aerial assault, with numerous drones and missiles targeting the Ukrainian capital. The attack, one of the largest since the conflict began, caused damage to apartment buildings and left 15 people injured.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the nation via social media,describing it as a “tough night” and urging the international community to impose further sanctions on Moscow to facilitate a ceasefire.
Witnesses reported seeing and hearing waves of drones over Kyiv, followed by a series of explosions. Anti-aircraft batteries were also active, attempting to intercept the incoming drones.
Photographs captured an orange-red glow over the city as smoke filled the horizon. Firefighters responded to a blaze on the top floor of an apartment building.
Government officials reported damage across six districts of Kyiv, with 15 people wounded, including two children. Three individuals required hospital treatment.
The city’s military administration characterized the event as one of the most considerable combined drone and missile attacks during the war.
Thes attacks occurred amidst calls from US President Donald Trump for ceasefire negotiations between russia and Ukraine, while he has resisted a European proposal for additional sanctions against Russia.

Halyna Tatarchuk, a 63-year-old pensioner, recounted her experiance when a drone struck her apartment building. She and her husband sought safety in the corridor, away from the windows.
“That saved us,” she saeid.
After sheltering in a nearby school’s bomb shelter, she returned to find her apartment’s windows shattered and the floor covered in glass.
“I’d like Trump to see this,” she said, standing in her kitchen.
