Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior Announces Regulations for Those with Withdrawn Citizenship

Teh Kuwaiti Ministry of interior has announced new regulations concerning the treatment of individuals whose Kuwaiti citizenship has been withdrawn.The proclamation, originally reported by Al -Marsad newspaper, outlines specific guidelines and deadlines for those affected.
According to a press statement from the ministry, “Kuwaiti passports will be allowed for four months, starting from the date of 20/7/2025 for everyone who issued a decree against them before this date and the period of four months is calculated from the date of the issuance of the withdrawal decree for new cases in order to help amend their conditions.”
The ministry emphasized that “the concerned persons must adhere to the instructions and procedures represented by the person concerned and those who follow him amend his legal status through coordination with his embassy to receive the original passport for the previous nationality that he was holding before obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship in accordance with the great business item or any official passport through which he is granted legal residency in the country.”
An “amendment deadline” has been set, with the ministry stressing “the necessity of adhering to the period of amending the situation specified for one year from the date of the issuance of the decree and its publication in the Official Gazette in order to ensure the continuity of benefiting from the prescribed benefits.”
Continued benefits for Those with withdrawn Citizenship

Despite the withdrawal of citizenship, the Ministry of Interior has outlined several benefits that will continue to be provided. these include:
- Continuing to work in the government sector or government companies according to contracts issued by the Civil Service Bureau of government agencies and private contracts from government companies without the permissibility of holding leadership or supervisory positions.
- The right to education provided by the state before withdrawing citizenship and continuing to study at all levels of study (primary – intermediate – secondary) and continuing to study for a diploma or university or graduate studies that he had started studying before withdrawing citizenship and continuing to study with internal or external missions that were granted to him before withdrawing citizenship.
- Continuation of having one private housing within the State of Kuwait,with exceptions for those with multiple wives due to polygamy.
- Continuing to sponsor domestic workers and owning private vehicles according to the controlled controls.
