The explosion incident at SMAN 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, left injuries and damage. North Jakarta Metro Police helped repair the school after the incident which injured a total of 96 people.
“As a form of concern and empathy for school residents after the explosion incident, the North Jakarta Metro Police together with the Kelapa Gading Police carried out a clean-up action at the SMA Negeri 72 mosque,” said North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Erick Frendriz to reporters, Saturday (8/11/2025).
The activity was led by North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP James H. Hutajulu. During the activity, the mosque ceiling was cleaned and the walls damaged by the explosion were repainted.

“Repair and replace ceramics, window glass, lamps, fans, wall clocks and carpets. Repair the main door and tidy up the electrical wiring installation,” he said.
Erick said this activity was a form of togetherness and mutual cooperation. He asked the public to remain calm after the incident.
“The National Police appeals to the entire community to remain calm, alert and not easily provoked by information whose truth is uncertain. Let’s work together to maintain security, order and comfort in our environment. Because recovery after this incident is not only the responsibility of the authorities, but also our collective task,” he explained.
The explosion occurred on Friday (7/11) during the Friday prayer sermon. It is known that 96 people were victims of the explosion, of which 29 people are still undergoing treatment in hospital.
A toy gun was also found at the explosion site. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the alleged perpetrator of the explosion was already known. The perpetrator is a student at SMAN 72 Jakarta.
Currently the perpetrator is conscious after undergoing treatment at the hospital. The police are still carrying out a series of investigations.
“The alleged perpetrator is currently a student at the high school,” said the National Police Chief after visiting the explosion victims at the Jakarta Islamic Hospital, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Saturday (8/11).
