Hezbollah military commander, Haytham Ali Tabatabai, was reportedly killed in an Israeli attack in Lebanon. Hezbollah’s ally the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) condemned and threatened to carry out retaliatory attacks against Tel Aviv.
Reported by Al Arabiya, Tuesday (25/11/2025), the death of Haytham Ali Tabatabai was confirmed by Hezbollah. Tabatabai was killed in an Israeli airstrike that hit the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday (23/11) local time.
Hezbollah remembered Tabatabai as “an important military commander” and a “great” commander who had “worked to confront Israel’s enemies until the last moments of his blessed life”.

Tabatabai is the most senior Hezbollah commander killed by Israel since the start of a ceasefire between the group and Tel Aviv in November 2024, ending more than a year of fierce fighting.
In a statement published by Iranian state media, as reported by Al Arabiya, Tuesday (25/11/2025), the IRGC said it “strongly condemns this barbaric crime”.
The IRGC also emphasized that Hezbollah and the entire “axis of resistance” — referring to Iran and the network of armed groups supported by Tehran — have the right to take revenge for Tabatabai’s death.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Warns Israel
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in a statement warned that Israel would face a “devastating response” at their own time.
The IRGC’s condemnation came after Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned Israel’s deadly attack. Tehran called it a “blatant violation of the November 2024 ceasefire and a brutal violation of Lebanon’s national sovereignty”.
Israel has repeatedly launched attacks on Lebanese territory since the ceasefire began, saying the attacks targeted Hezbollah fighters and military infrastructure.
Hezbollah, whose main backer is Iran, has been significantly weakened by the latest confrontation with Israel. The situation worsened with the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, which was a major ally of Tehran and Hezbollah.
These setbacks had a direct impact on Iran, with its nuclear facilities becoming the target of bombing by Israel and its ally, the United States (US), as the war raged for 12 days in mid-June.
