Ansan City and Hanwha Robotics have announced a partnership to cultivate an advanced robotics industry ecosystem within the Ansan Science Valley (ASV) district. The two entities will collaborate on investment and development initiatives to achieve this shared vision.

The city announced on the 22nd that it held an investment consultation meeting with Hanwha Robotics to create a high -tech robot industry ecosystem of the ansan ASV district.

The meeting was held as part of the designation of the ASV district free economic zone, and was designed to discuss specific cooperation with Hanwha Robotics, which delivered its intention to invest in July 2024.

At the meeting,Mayor Lee Min -geun emphasized that the ASV district was an advanced robot -industry -university cluster with major research institutes and industrial complexes such as Hanyang University ERICA,Korea Institute of Industrial Technology,korea Institute of Industrial technology Testing,Korea Electric Institute,and Gyeonggi TP.

Chung Byung -chan, CEO of Hanwha Robotics, said, “The most significant part of the robot company is the industry -university cluster and the demand market. The ASV district is a very attractive investment destination.”

Ansan City, which proclaimed the vision of ‘Robot City Ansan’, is speeding up the transition of the city’s industrial structure to the center of the future industry such as advanced robots and AI.in particular, it will not only focus on promoting the digital conversion (DX) and advanced automation (AX) of smart-hubs, but also to foster the Ansan ASV district as the center of the high-tech robot industry. It is accelerating the designation.

In the meantime, the city has been proceeding with the designation of the ASV district free economic zone, ▲ application for new designation in January 2025, passing the appropriate evaluation in February, and reporting new designation of the Korea Free Economic Zone Committee in March.

In particular, the city is planning to finalize the designation of the ASV district in the Free Economic Zone Committee in September.

Lee Min -geun said, “We will solidify the establishment of an industry -university ecosystem centered on the high -tech industry, and foster the ASV district as a central base for future industries such as Pangyo, based on international schools, global research institutes, and complex commercial districts.”
