Produced by Ning Hao, directed by Shen Ao, written by Shen Ao and Xu Luyang, starring Xiao Yang, Qi Xi, Simon Yam, and Zheng Kai, and starring Pan Binlong, the movie “The Place of Use” is scheduled to hit mainland IMAX theaters on New Year’s Eve on December 31. The exclusive IMAX poster of the film was revealed today. This film is the third time that the film directed by the Olympic bidder has appeared on the IMAX screen after “All or Nothing” and “Nanjing Photo Studio”. It is also the first time that the entire film is specially shot in IMAX. In the IMAX theater, the audience will experience 26% more exclusive screen content than the regular version. They will be immersed in the desperate overseas situation during the war and witness a thrilling self-rescue struggle. The movie is now available for screening and pre-sale, and the IMAX version will be screened nationwide from the 26th to the 28th.

The exclusive IMAX poster of “The Field of Use” released today focuses on the overseas battlefield where the story takes place. In the picture, the desert sun is blazing, the wind and sand cover the sun, and the powerful armed convoys and helicopters make the characters in the foreground feel particularly isolated and helpless. The sense of crisis and urgency conveyed by the poster makes people think of the life and death test that is about to unfold on the IMAX big screen.

“Where We Use It” is adapted from the real experiences of overseas hostage survivors. It tells the story of foreign correspondent Ma Xiao (played by Xiao Yang) and volunteer doctor Pan Wenjia (played by Qi Xi). They accompany engineer Miao Feng (played by Zheng Kai) to the suburbs to repair base stations. The local situation suddenly changes. The three of them evaded indiscriminate attacks by terrorist organizations, but were eventually kidnapped and taken hostage. In prison, they met overseas Chinese businessman Zhou Weijie (played by Simon Yam). Faced with the unheard-of massacres and extortion of lives by terrorists, they embarked on a thrilling self-rescue escape after 105 days. After launching two critically acclaimed realism-themed blockbusters, the director’s bid for the Olympics once again focuses on the stories of ordinary people in desperate situations. The film’s true portrayal of war-torn areas overseas will bring highly impactful audio-visual scenes, and the twists and turns of the escape journey, under the interpretation of a group of talented actors, is also expected to burst out with stronger emotional tension.

“Field of Use” is the first time that the director of the Olympic bid has used IMAX to shoot the entire film. This technical choice is deeply consistent with his creative concept of striving for authenticity. According to reports, the film strives to use real details to create a real texture. From the hostage self-rescue process to the natural and humanistic features of the African battlefield, they are all derived from the careful collection of the real world and the extraction of massive data. Action scenes such as car chases and gun battles, explosions and fights were shockingly shot in forbidden desert areas. Real explosions were even used under safety conditions to mobilize the real reactions of the actors to capture more realistic and impactful scenes.

Such efforts aimed at pursuing the ultimate sense of reality will be fully conveyed to the audience through more picture information captured by IMAX’s special shooting, combined with the comprehensive presentation of the IMAX theater’s large screen, high-definition picture quality and powerful sound system. From the rough and brutal scorched earth of war to the breathtaking “Bullet Fair”, every scene is designed to make the audience feel like they are there. In order to restore key scenes, the film’s art team built a large-scale and detailed “Bullet Market” based on real data, in which thousands of props, firearms and battlefield items were displayed. These carefully crafted details will be displayed with unprecedented clarity on the IMAX screen. From revealing the black industrial chain of extremist organizations to presenting explosion scenes all over the mountains and plains, the film’s narrative breadth and visual impact will be doubled in the IMAX audio-visual environment.

Directly attacking the abyss of sin and praying for peace in the world, IMAX’s specially produced “A Place to Use” will land in IMAX theaters on December 31, 2025, New Year’s Eve.
