Because the Terrasses du Parc hosted the meeting to launch the metropolitan election campaign for RN candidate Tiffany Joncour.
The MP had gathered around her her parliamentary counterpart Julien Odoul, as well as the 13 candidates who will try with her to wrest the Metropolis of Lyon from the environmentalists, or at least form a group on the council – which Andrea Kotarac had failed to do in 2020.
The police force was deployed in the face of the threat of a far-left demonstration. Around 200 people gathered in Charpennes to denounce the holding of this meeting. Among them are some personalities such as the LFI municipal candidates Mathieu Garabedian (Villeurbanne) and Albert Lévy (Lyon 3rd) or even the spokesperson for the Young Guard Zine-Eddine Messaoudi.
“It’s worrying for our democracy, a campaign launch is nothing exceptional, we should be in a moment of democratic debate”regrets Tiffany Joncour who spoke at a press conference before her meeting.
How far will this violence go?worries the one who “waiting for reactions. The prefecture reacted to the anti-police messages projected on Saturday during the Festival of Lights, but nothing about the anti-RN messages. As if it were normal. At the meeting, there are curious people, activists, these people should not be worried”.
Julien Odoul at his side believed that “The far left is a cancer for our democracy and constitutes a serious threat to all democrats and all those who do not correspond to their ideology of violence. The security system deployed for this meeting is shocking. It should revolt everyone.”
“We want to give voice back to the communities”
Concerning the metropolitan elections, Tiffany Joncour will rely on candidates who, for some, will also be in the municipal elections. This is obviously the case of Alexandre Dupalais, UDR-RN candidate in Lyon and who is invested in the Lyon Sud-Est metropolitan constituency, but also of Gérald Canon (Villeurbanne), Marco Charavia (Corbas and Portes du Sud) and even Tim Bouzon (Décines and Rhône Amont).
“We want to give voice back to the communities”promises the MP for the 13th constituency of Rhône, who will campaign on three main themes: mobility, security and economic development/purchasing power.

“We must turn the page on the left and the extreme left in all the municipalities they run with calamitous and devastating results. It was a laboratory for the worst”adds Julien Odoul, who describes the National Rally as the only party capable of “constitute a bulwark against municipal Islamo-leftism. The Lyon right is relatively discreet about the demonstrations of the extreme left”.
Asked about the fact that Jean-Michel Aulas warned that Coeur Lyonnais and Grand Coeur Lyonnais would not make any alliance with the extremes in the first or second round, Tiffany Joncour counterattacked: “He says he won’t make an alliance with us? That’s good because we don’t want to ally ourselves with this amorphous bloc, this charade which goes from the right to socialism via the macronie. His camp is feverish because they know that they won’t be able to do without us, without our group”.
And tomorrow? “The 14 candidates will go into the field”promises Tiffany Joncour. “Every voice will count and be useful”concluded Julien Odoul, encouraging Greater Lyonnais to vote for this election, a major dress rehearsal before the 2027 presidential election highly anticipated by the RN.
