Kim Jong-un decorates North Korean soldiers deployed in support of Russia
Images broadcast on Friday by the North Korean state media showed Kim Jong-one kneeling in front of the portraits of soldiers who died in combat for Russia against Ukraine, and embracing a survivor of the conflict.
During a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Korean workers’ party in Pyongyang, Kim Jong-un hailed the soldiers “Heroic” et “Admirable”income after enduring “Balle gusts and bombs”.
The images show the North Korean leader, apparently under the emotion, kissing a soldier who seems upset, his face against the chest of his leader. You can also see the leader kneel before the portrait of a soldier who fell in battle, before laying medals and flowers in front of other portraits.
The manager also awarded, according to the KCNA agency, the title of “Heroes of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”the official name of North Korea, commanders who fought in operations abroad and “Completed remarkable exploits”.
In April, North Korea had confirmed for the first time that it had deployed a contingent of its soldiers alongside the Russian troops against the Ukrainian troops. The secret services of South Korea and Western countries said Pyongyang had sent more than 10,000 soldiers to the Koursk region in 2024, as well as artillery shells, missiles and long -range rocket systems.
About 600 North Korean soldiers were killed, and thousands were injured while fighting for Russia, according to Seoul. Pyongyang and Moscow have been linked by a security and defense agreement since 2024.
