xiaomi has officially unveiled its first electric SUV, the YU7, designed to tackle range anxiety and compete directly with the Tesla model Y.The YU7 was introduced in China, marking a significant step for the smartphone manufacturer into the electric vehicle sector.

The electric SUV features a leather interior with zero-gravity front seats and a panoramic display called “HyperVision.” The infotainment system and centre display are powered by HyperOS and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It is available in nine exterior colors, including Orange, Green, and Silver Titanium.

For autonomous driving, the Xiaomi YU7 uses an Nvidia Thor chipset, similar to the SU7, providing a neural computing power of 700 TOPS. All models are built on an 800 V platform, enabling rapid charging capable of adding 620 km of range in 15 minutes.

While pricing details are yet to be announced, Xiaomi suggests a competitive stance against existing options. As a reference, the Tesla Model Y RWD is priced at CNY 263,500 (approximately USD 36,575).
