After bringing home a prestigious international victory, the skaters of the Monza Precision Teams of the Astro Roller Skating ADS climbed up to the Berlusconi Belvedere in Palazzo di Lombardia. For the occasion, yesterday 6 February, the undersecretary of the presidency of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for Sport and Youth Federica Picchi awarded the young athletes, who won the 69th world figure skating championship in Beijing, which concluded last October 2025.
“Born in 1971 from the idea of Sister Gabriella Pirovano of the San Rocco oratory in Monza, the Astro Roller Skating ADS – states the undersecretary – is not just a winning sports club: it is an educational center that has been training generations of young people for decades, transmitting passion, respect, dedication and a sense of belonging”.
The victories and the awards
Since 2019, Astro Roller Skating has welcomed around 350 athletes aged 3 to 50, 25 coaches and 19 managers among the 11 gyms present in Monza and Muggiò.
The company offers various disciplines, such as figure skating (individual and pairs), solo dance, performance and synchronized groups, inline skating and freestyle. And it’s not even the first time it has brought home an important prize: just last January, the Astrozecchino group made up of 46 very young athletes won the Mariele Ventre Trophy 2026, thanks to an exciting choreography to the tune of the song ‘The Magic Journey of Marco Polo’.
The comment
“With the world triumph of the Monza Precision Team Senior – said Picchi – capable of winning the Italian and European championship titles and the prestigious world champion title in 2025, figure skating has brought Lombardy to the top of the world. It is therefore a great pride – states the undersecretary – to reward at Palazzo Lombardia these extraordinary athletes, 18 in all, who with the specialty of synchronized skating enchanted the international audience in Beijing at the World Skating Championships last year.”
