Although much of the country is enjoying summer 2026, The calendar already marks one of the milestones that directly impacts people’s daily organization: the next time change in Chile.

At the moment, The country is governed by summer time, a system that began to be applied on September 6, 2025 and will remain in force for a total of seven months. in accordance with established regulations.

When will the first time change take place in 2026

As stipulated in the Republic Law, daylight saving time began on the first Saturday of September, day in which the clocks were advanced by 60 minutes. This modality officially extends “until midnight on the first Saturday of the month of April 2026.”

Under this legal framework, the change to winter time will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, moment in which the clocks must be turned back one hour, thus marking the beginning of the new time regime in much of the national territory.

The time change applies to the entire country

The time adjustment will not be mandatory in all regions. As in previous years, the regions of Aysén and Magallanes, along with Chilean Antarcticawill be excluded from this modification, since they permanently maintain summer time.

This regional differentiation seeks to respond to the geographical and luminosity conditions of the extreme south of the country, avoiding alterations in your daily routines.
