The Westfield shopping center in Hamburg’s Hafencity.
The Westfield Center in Hafencity has fallen victim to a hacker attack. The operator of the Hamburg shopping and adventure center is withholding information. It is known that countless customer data has been stolen. Hundreds of customers received an email from the Westfield Center Hamburg on Monday night. It says: “We have been notified of unauthorized access to one of our databases containing certain information about our loyalty program members and newsletter subscribers.” Names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth and license plates were stolen by the hackers.
Operator confirms hacker attack
In an email to those affected, the center wrote: “As a precautionary measure, we recommend that you exercise caution with all unsolicited calls, emails and text messages, especially if they ask you to provide payment information or passwords.” Westfield tries to reassure people by saying: “Neither account numbers, credit card numbers nor passwords were affected by this data breach.” When asked by NDR, the operator only confirmed that a computer system was the target of an attack.
